Embarking on a New Creative Adventure: Blogging My Crafts and Journey

Hello, and welcome to WR Joy & Grace—my little corner of creativity in the heart of the Midwest!

Starting this blog feels like stepping into uncharted waters, but also like finding the perfect outlet to share my journey. For as long as I can remember, crafting has been a source of joy in my life—a way to express myself, channel creativity, and find calm in the everyday hustle and bustle. After raising my family and embracing the wonderful chaos of life, I realized it was time to start a new chapter, one that would let me pour my passion into something truly meaningful. And so, WR Joy & Grace was born.

The name WR Joy & Grace holds special meaning for me, inspired by a line in the LCMS Church’s Prayer of Thanksgiving. The phrase "with repentant joy" has always resonated deeply, serving as a beautiful reminder of humility and gratitude in life’s journey. I chose to add the word "grace" to the name, reflecting my belief in the importance of both joy and grace as guiding principles. Together, they capture the spirit of renewal, creativity, and kindness that I strive to bring into every creation and into this new adventure.

On the website, you’ll notice I’ve simplified the shop name by dropping the “&” for ease of remembering—it’s a small tweak to make things a little smoother for visitors while keeping the heart of WR Joy & Grace intact.

This space isn't just about showcasing my handmade creations; it’s about sharing everything I’ve learned—and continue to learn—along the way. Building a small craft business is full of challenges and surprises. From figuring out how to run a website and set up a blog to discovering the ins and outs of managing a business, there’s always something new to tackle. It can feel overwhelming at times, but it’s also incredibly rewarding.

I promise to keep this blog transparent and authentic. You won’t find it clogged up with ads—because let’s face it, that’s just annoying when you're trying to enjoy a story or find helpful information. That said, you may occasionally see affiliate links or links to products from my shop. These are included thoughtfully and with transparency, and there’s absolutely no pressure to buy anything. My goal is to share tools and supplies I genuinely love and believe may be helpful to you.

This blog will evolve into more than just crafting—it’s a place where I’ll share insights and lessons from my nearly six decades of life. These experiences don’t always involve crafting but have shaped who I am and might resonate with someone else out there. From practical tips to heartfelt reflections, I want this to be a space that offers inspiration and support.

Crafting has always been my happy place. It’s where I find moments of peace and joy, and where I can take everyday inspiration and turn it into something beautiful. With the loving support of my husband David, I’ve found the courage to embark on this journey and share my creations and experiences with the world.

I hope this blog becomes a place where creativity flows freely, connections are made, and ideas are sparked. Whether you’re here as a fellow crafter, a supporter of small businesses, or simply looking for inspiration, I’m so glad you’ve joined me. Thank you for being part of this adventure—I can’t wait to see where it takes us.

Here’s to embracing new challenges, sharing stories, and celebrating the joy of crafting and life itself.
